Oldest Professional Basketball Star Player – Moshsen Khalaf

Abdulmohsen Khalaf Al-Muwallad (aka) Mohsen Al-Muwallad (aka) Mohsen Khalaf was officially recognised by Guinness World Records as the ‘ oldest professional basketball player’.

Mohsen Khalaf was selected to play for the Saudi National Team in 1986 at the age of 20 and retired from the international games in 2005.

He played his first game for Ohod Club, Madinah in 1979. Played his final pro game on May 22nd, 2015 at 51 years, 335 days after spending 36 years with the Madinah based team.

World’s Largest Drinking Water Storage Tank – Kahramaa : Qatar -August 2020

Kahramaa (Qatar General Electric and Water Corporation) entered the Guinness Book of Records for the category – ‘Volume of the Largest Water Tank of its Kind in the World’.

It has 436,000 cubic meters (exceeding 96 million imperial gallons) capacity.

Qatar’s new world record reflects the efficiency and its strategy to enhance water security for its nation.

World Record Winner of ‘Marathon des Sables’ – Lahcen Ahansal

Lahcen Ahansal . Athlete. Long distance runner.

He has the world record for most wins by an individual – 10 wins. The first in 1997 and then 9 of them consequtively 1999 upto 2007

Marathon des Sables is considered to be the toughest running race in the world. It is a six-day ultradistance event that covers 254 km across the Sahara Desert in Morocco.

Lahcen Ahansal is also an organiser to trekking in Southern Morocco and the ‘Zagora Marathon’.

The World’s tallest indoor artificial climbing wall is at a staggering 42.16 m (138 ft).

It is one of 2 world records of CLYMB Abu Dhabi, a sports and leisure attraction on Yas Island.

The other record is of the ‘World’s Biggest Indoor Skydiving Flight Chamber/ Wind Tunnel).

CLYMB Abu Dhabi is awarded for both by Guinness World Records.

Egypt – World’s Largest Exporter of Frozen Strawberries : 2019

Egypt was the world’s number one exporter of frozen strawberries in 2019, according to a report by the United Nations’ (UN) World Trade Center. 

The Egyptian Food Export Council revealed that Egyptian exports of frozen strawberries made up 20% of all global exports last year, amounting to about 140,000 tons valued at $165 million

In second place behind Egypt is Poland, who exported 94,000 tons of frozen strawberries in 2019. Mexico came in third with 84,000 tons, with Morocco coming in fourth place with 73,000 tons, and in fifth place was China with 48,000 tons.

Nejib Belhedi’s registration in Guinness Book of Records is the first in Tunisian sports history.

-First Marathon Swimmer in Tunisia and first who swam Kerkennah – June 1991

-English Channel (England to France) on September 15–16, 1993 in 16 hours 35 minutes. First and only Tunisian who accomplished the English Channel, the Channel Swimming Association created a trophy in the name of Belhedi : Belhedi Trophy for the Channel Swim

-Nejib Belhedi accomplished 1400 km along the total coast of Tunisia during 2011-2012 all seasons

-Title of the World Performance of the year 2011 for his marathon 1400 K Swim Across Tunisia, honored on RMS Queen Mary, California, Los Angeles on 22 Sept 2012.

The world’s longest chandelier by number of lights called ‘ Reflective Lights’ is installed at the Ali Bin Khalifa Al Hitmi & Co, office building on the water front in Doha on June 23rd, 2010.

The exhibit is an organic art sculpture by day and then transformed when the light is introduced behind the glass frame.

The ‘Reflective Lights’ chandelier weighs 18,000 kg (39,683 lbs) and has 165,000 LED units. It measures 5.8m (19ft) in height at 12.5m (41 ft) in linear width and 38.5 m (126 ft 4in) in linear length. Certified by Guinness World Records.

The Chandelier is designed by Beau McClellan, Scotland.

World’s Oldest Bread Discovered. 14, 400 Years Ago. Jordan.

Researchers working in the black desert of north-eastern Jordan found the charred remains of a flat bread baked by hunter-gatherers 14,400 years ago.

The bread was found in a stone fireplace. The oldest direct evidence of bread yet found, predating the advent of agriculture by at least 4,000 years ago.

The excavation was led by Tobias Richter, Archaeologist and researchers were led by Amaia Arranz Otaegui of the University of Copenhagen, Denmark in 2018. Findings were published in the Journal ‘Proceedings of the National Academy of Science’.
