Ons Jabeur, the Tunisian 26-year-old became the first Arab woman to win a WTA title defeating Daria Kasatkina 7-5, 6-4 to win the 2021 Viking Classic Birmingham. 

Jabeur has crossed Selima Sfar’s career high of No.75 to become the highest-ranked Arab Woman ever.

World’s Largest Coral Garden in the Red Sea, Saudi Arabia

Officials in Saudi Arabia have announced a joint project to establish the largest coral garden in the world at NEOM, the futuristic mega-city being built in the Kingdom’s northwest.


NEOM and King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) said that the project that will cover 100 hectares on Shusha Island on the shores of the Red Sea.


The Shusha Island Coral Park will become a global center to showcase innovations to protect and restore coral reefs and accelerate conservation solutions, helping to reduce the effects of climate change, a statement issued by Saudi Press Agency said.

Shusha Island is home to more than 300 species of coral and 1,000 species of fish.

The project is scheduled to be completed in 2025, making NEOM a world leader in restoring and developing coral reefs.

Soufiane El Bakkali, Moroccan Athlete Wins Race at Rome’s Diamond League (Italy) : June 10th, 2021

Soufiane El Bakkali recorded the world’s fastest time in the 3,000-meter steeplechase for men this Thursday, June 10th at Rome’s Diamond League.

El Bakkali broke the world’s fastest time record of the season. 

The Diamond League is a series of field athletic competitions that take place every year. The first competition took place in 2010 and replaced the IAAF Golden League, organized in 1998. 

Soufiane El Bakkali’s timing for the 3,000 meters steeplechase race was 8:08.54, ranking as first in the category.

UNICEF Morocco Appoints Achraf Hakimi ‘Champion for Children’ – May 2021

The UNICEF office in Morocco announced the appointment of Moroccan international football star Achraf Hakimi as children’s rights champion.

Hakimi, 22, is triumphing not only in his humanitarian works but also in his football career.

The football player is a key element in both his international club Inter Milan and Morocco’s national team.

UNICEF launched the initiative to appoint public figures from all fields, including arts, academics, and sports among others to engage in its efforts to help raise awareness of children’s rights.

Champions for Children are prominent individuals from arts, music, academics, ICT, sports, community-based organizations, or other fields who help to raise awareness of children’s rights.

The initiative is in line with the Convention on the Rights of the Child, which is the “most widely ratified human rights treaty in history,” UNICEF said.

Global Village Dubai Breaks its 25th Guinness World Record – ‘Highest Altitude Fireworks’ : May 2021

Global Village teamed up with Skydive Dubai to break a new Guinness World Record title, with 20 skydivers jumping from an altitude of more than 4,570 metres, lighting the skies with 78 fireworks, representative of the 78 cultures that were present at Global Village during its 25th season.

 Visitors were treated to a rare and spectacular showcase, as the venue celebrated its silver jubilee season finale.

The initiative was in line with Global Village’s aim to break 25 Guinness World Records over the course of its 25th season, which ran from October 25 to May 2.

The stunt broke the Guinness World Record title for “highest altitude fireworks display”.
