The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Office Cherifien des Phosphates  (OCP) Mostafa Terrab received the Insignia of Officer of the Legion of Honor of France in Rabat.

Terrab has been OCP’s chairman and CEO since 2006 and president of the International Fertilizer Association (IFA) since June 2019.

Egypt re-elected as vice chair of UN Habitat Executive Board.

 Executive Board of the UN Habitat held its first meeting during which Egypt was re-elected as vice chair of the Executive Board of the UN Habitat for the African Group over the period from 2021-2022.

Egypt’s Permanent Delegation to UN Habitat Ambassador Khaled el Abyad voiced happiness over the re-election of Egypt, expressing his appreciation for the sisterly African states over their confidence in Egypt and its ability to enhance the African interests and defend them.

Sarah Al-Suhaimi, First Woman Member of ‘ Saudia Airline’s Board of Directors’ : April 2021

Sarah Al-Suhaimi has been appointed to the board of directors at Saudia airline as a representative of the private sector, following approval from the Kingdom’s Council of Ministers.

Al-Suhaimi is also the chairwoman for the board of directors at the Saudi Arabian Stock Exchange (Tadawul), the largest stock market in the Middle East. In 2017, she became the first Saudi woman to hold that position.

Three years before Tadawul, Al-Suhaimi was the CEO and a board director at the National Commercial Bank, also known as Al-Ahli Bank.

Al-Suhaimi served as the vice chairperson of the advisory committee to the board of the Capital Market Authority between 2013 and 2015.

She worked as the chief investment officer at Jadwa Investment, where she led the asset management and wealth management business lines and was also a member of its management committee between 2007 and 2014.

Al-Suhaimi started her career within asset management at Samba Capital. She is a trustee of the International Financial Reporting Standards Foundation and a We-Fi Leadership Champion.

Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Managing Director & Group CEO – ADNOC, named Energy Intelligence’s ‘Energy Executive of the Year 2021’.

 Energy Intelligence announced that Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Managing Director & Group CEO of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), has been named as Energy Intelligence’s Energy Executive of the Year for 2021.

The award recognises Dr. Al Jaber’s role in mapping a path of modernisation for national oil companies. Dr. Al Jaber was elected by the leaders of the world’s top energy companies and is the 25th winner of this distinguished honor. The award will be presented to Dr. Al Jaber at the Energy Intelligence Forum 2021 conference held October 4-7.

“Dr. Al Jaber has distinguished himself as an innovator at a time of great change,” said Raja Sidawi, Chairman and Chief Executive of Energy Intelligence. “He has reimagined ADNOC’s operations, its strategy and its culture.”

Bahrain’s Dr. Shaikha Rana bint Isa Al Khalifa, Honored with ‘Arab Women and Social Responsibility Award’ : 2021

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Chairperson of the Equal Opportunities Committee and Member of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), Dr. Shaikha Rana bint Isa Al Khalifa, received the award of “Arab Women and Social Responsibility in an Era of Transformation, Developmental Inclusiveness and Digital Diplomacy”, from the Arab Council for Social Responsibility (ACSR). 

The award was granted during the third Arab Women Forum for Social Responsibility, under the title of “Transformation in the Time of Inclusion”, which was held today at the headquarters of the Arab League, under the patronage of Arab League Secretary General, Ahmed Abul Gheit, who presented the award to Dr. Shaikha Rana. 

A group of Arab pioneers were also honored for their role in serving Arab women’s issues, in addition to reviewing the experiences of Arab women towards social responsibility

Gypto Pharma City, Egypt – Biggest Pharma City in the Middle East Inaugrated : April 2021

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi inaugurated Egypt’s Gypto Pharma City, the largest pharmaceutical city in the Middle East.

Gypto Pharma, also known as Medicine City, has been set up to produce safe and effective medicines at reasonable prices, and will manufacture coronavirus remedies and drugs for chronic diseases. Production of some vitamins will also be given priority.

The city includes a regional center for manufacturing medicine in cooperation with foreign companies, and has plans to export to African, foreign and Arab countries. This is in addition to research and development laboratories.

Saudi Water Desalination Corporation Sets Yet Another Guinness World Record : March 2021

Saudi Arabia’s Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC) has set a Guinness World Record for the lowest energy-consuming desalination plant in the world.


The new plant operates at 2.27 kilowatt per hour per cubic meter of desalinated water.

2019:

SWCC won the Guinness World Record in 2019 for the biggest desalinated water plant with a production of 5.6 million cubic meters of water a day.

2018:

It also broke its 2018 world record of five million cubic meters of water a day.
